HOW  CIVILIANS   HIJACK  A  PLANE

One is all the time hearing about stories how domestic airlines fleece the common man by not boarding him on plane despite having valid ticket, subjecting them to inordinate delays , shoddy on board treatment etc., but this one takes the cake - by deboarding valid ticket holders to entertain a Minster;s wedding entourage...

This should be shared more and more ...

Jet Airways Offers To Pay Passengers To Deplane As An Influential Family ‘Hijacks’ The Flight

Jet Airways flight 9W7083 scheduled from Mumbai to Bhopal for around 6am this morning just gave to us yet another example of the shameful joke our country is becoming. Though Jet Airways is well known for messing up with passenger commitments and awkward delayed flights, this one still rose a whole level above.
As reported by sources, a wedding party consisting of 80 people were on their way to Bhopal out of which 17 people showed up late to the airport, as a result of which they were thrown off the flight because of over-booking. The entire group of 80 people then decided to threaten the airline, telling them that the 63 passengers on board would get off the flight if the 17 latecomers weren't let on. Instead of using this opportunity to throw the hooligans out, the Jet Airways staff began trying to convince other passengers to give up their seats to accommodate the wedding party. To incentivise passengers to deplane, Jet Airways offered a sum of Rs. 10,000 to each passenger. This, for obvious reasons caused a lot of chaos and delayed the flight. The flight, initially scheduled to land at 0710 hours, finally took off at 0800 and landed at 0910 hours.

It is easy to wonder, how were the 17 allowed to get through to the boarding gates if they weren't confirmed passengers? Is it safe to assume that they were simply rushed through a security check in what would be a serious security breach? Also, a group of people threatening the pilot and the crew, forcing their will upon them and in effect causing an entire flight to stand still - doesn't that simply count as hijacking?

Among the passengers on board was a man en-route from Singapore to attend his father's funeral, begging for the ruckus to end as his father's body wouldn't be released from the hospital until he got there. This of course, was only one of the many untold stories.
In the end, five people de-boarded taking Jet Airway's concession offer. At this point, the pilot announced that the Bhopal airport was scheduled to close at 9am for renovation, a fact that was well known before hand but gracefully ignored while wasting time trying to get people to de-board for a bunch of hooligans to get on.

It also appears that the wedding family is linked to a powerful minister, and so (obviously) Jet Airways decided to not take a stand against them and fell like squirming worms to their feet. It is disgusting how such people continue to live in our so-called progressive society - and worse, command it. Privileged living has reached unfathomable levels, and all the common man can do is sit back and watch the drama unfold. It seems to have become a part of our daily lives - to constantly churn under power and the faithless, to be forced into the ruthless game of corruption and indignity, to be the ever-ready sacrificial pawn. The spinelessness of Jet Airways was of course, the cherry on top.

Let's think about this: A group of 17 people wearing tacky #ViruNiWedding shirts could put a helpless man who just lost his father into such a depressing state of such misery, and all you expect authorities to do is sit back and look at you in the eye with no signs of shame. Oh, if you're lucky, they might offer you 10K, if not, well better plane next time buddy!

I don't know what's worse; that fact that big companies like Jet Airways are giving in to such bullying, or the fact that we normal folk don't stand a damned chance.

Watch the on-flight chaos here. Fun game: Spot the hooligans!
